The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has announced that its Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) will now operate under the name Office of Small Business (OSB), a designation that better reflects a more holistic, consultative approach to supporting America’s small businesses. The office’s statutory authorities under the Small Business Act remain unchanged, while the new name clarifies the team’s role in ensuring compliance with federal small business requirements, providing consultative support to acquisition professionals and industry, and ensuring capable small businesses can compete and deliver high-quality solutions.

The change also aligns with federal acquisition process improvements resulting from the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO). GSA emphasized that small businesses are not only the backbone of the economy but also an important source of innovation, creativity, and agility for the agency and its partner agencies. “Our vision is that GSA maintains a thriving, competitive ecosystem of small businesses that deliver value to the American people,” the agency stated.
