In early 2025, Trinidad and Tobago strengthened its public procurement capacity through a specialized training program delivered by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) and supported by CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. The initiative, funded by a non-reimbursable technical cooperation of USD 150,000, aligns with the country’s regulatory framework and aims to improve efficiency and transparency in government procurement processes.

The program, carried out between January and February 2025, focused on key areas such as modern procurement strategies, supplier evaluation, contract management, and commercial risk analysis. During the graduation ceremony, Stephanie Ledesma, CAF’s Principal Executive, emphasized that this training is essential to strengthening governance and ensuring the effective execution of procurement responsibilities in an evolving regulatory environment.

Robert Subryan, Chief Operating Officer at the Office of Procurement Regulation, highlighted the importance of this training for the country and expressed his gratitude to CAF for its commitment to capacity-building in procurement management. This collaboration reflects CAF’s broader efforts to modernize procurement systems across Latin America and the Caribbean, promoting greater efficiency and accountability in public sector transactions.
