On March 4th, the National Agency Colombia Buys Efficient launched its new corporate image and information portal on procurement in Colombia: www.colombiacompra.gov.co. Also, it unveiled its Twitter account: @ colombiacompra.
Background:

In 2003 the National Government developed the Electronic System for Public Procurement (SECOP) to serve all entities of the state for publishing their contractual activity.
Subsequently, in 2007, the bill 1150 has made reference to SECOP in order to establish that all actions of the contractual cycle can be undertaken electronically, including the notification and publishing legal documents of the processes. Nowadays the SECOP allows the publication of documents and legalities of the contractual process, and consulting information of mode of selection, contracting entity, contractor, and price of the contract.
The SECOP is now available for all state entities, including industrial and commercial enterprise, as well as mixed enterprise, and with public participation above 50% of the social capital.
The National Government assigned Colombia Compra Efficiente the responsibility of administrator of SECOP, a task that was before handled by Gobierno En Linea.
