Brazil’s Ministry of Public Services Management and Innovation has launched Contrata+Brasil, an e-commerce platform designed to streamline the procurement of goods and services by the Federal Public Administration. Regulated by Normative Instruction SEGES/MGI No. 52 of February 10, 2025, the initiative aims to modernize and strengthen the relationship between the public sector and society by promoting efficiency and transparency in public procurement.
The platform adopts legal models such as credenciamento (supplier accreditation) and other auxiliary procedures, enabling public market transactions for the acquisition of common goods and services, including engineering projects. Contrata+Brasil will be available not only to federal entities but also to state, Federal District, and municipal agencies, as well as public companies, mixed-capital enterprises, and other organizations receiving public funds.
This initiative marks a major step toward establishing a federal public e-marketplace, with the goal of reducing transaction costs and improving procurement efficiency. The platform is guided by principles such as the modernization of government relations, recognition of the strategic role of public procurement in sustainable development, efficient planning, interinstitutional cooperation, and transparent data integration to enhance public policy.
