The Workshops was organized by the collaboration of the Organization of American States (OAS), the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Government of Costa Rica.
Representatives of the following members countries of INGP participated in the workshop: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay, all of which had prospects of implementing proposals and initiatives to include a criteria of sustainability in government procurement.
The INGP has labeled this area as an emerging topic that is associated with the actions that can be taken by governments to mitigate the effects of climate change and to promote a major economical and social sustainability for countries of the region.
Towards the end of the workshop a working group was arranged regarding the program ICT4CP, composed of countries participating for the development of a common agenda on the theme of sustainable procurement.
